Anatomy

I am not exaggerating when I say anatomy might be the most important step of learning how to do art. It is so difficult to learn, and you need a very good understanding of how the human body works. There are so many techniques people use to get good anatomy, but if I'm being completely honest, learning anatomy isn't about just following a technique, you need to understand how it works. I'm not here to tell you about any techniques I use, because I'll be honest, I don't have a technique, I just eye it, because I generally understand how anatomy works, I'm not perfect at it, not even close, but over time as I eye it, I will get more familiar with how anatomy works. Look at health books, all the muscles inside, don't be afraid to draw naked bodies in your sketchbook, it's practice that nearly every single professional artist goes through at some point, and it greatly improves your art skills, even if it is very hard. Even if you don't plan on drawing people, still learn anatomy, as I cannot say enough times, it is ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT STEPS OF YOUR ART JOURNEY.

Should I post my art?

As someone who has posted over 100 artworks online, I can safely say that I think posting your art is a great idea! It's a good way to find people you resonate with, and to get a following of people that enjoy your art. BUT it does come with cons as well. For instance, you are going to get your first hate comment at some point, it's inevitable, there's no artist online who has not gotten a single hate comment (to my knowledge) but that doesn't mean you should stop posting, ignore them, why should you care about what some random person in Zimbabwe thinks? I also must say that this next tip is SO IMPORTANT. I struggled with this a lot when I started posting my art, I would make an artwork, spend hours on it, post it, and get 3 likes. I would never get any engagement, hell, I barely get engagement now. When I started off posting, I would spend the entire time while making my artwork just thinking "I wonder how many likes this is gonna get" and when I would eventually post it, and get nothing, I would feel like it's my fault, like I didn't do good enough. My point is, don't make art for other people, don't make art for likes, make art because you enjoy it, and you enjoy sharing it with people.
